Virginia Tech’s Squires Student Center Undergoes Renovations, Collegiate Times
“Squires Student Center will be getting a fresh new look as a result of renovations scheduled to begin this spring. The renovations will be the first in many years for the popular campus center. "The last time cosmetic work was done would be the late '80s and early '90s, about 15 to 20 years ago. With all the traffic, it's a lot of wear and tear on the building. It was the right time to update Squires' look," said Greg Beecher, associate director for administrative services for University Unions and Student Activities. Renovations for the building will serve a variety of functions. One is to improve functionality for the building. "The building is hard to navigate, so students don't always see everything the building has to offer," said Linda Pye, principal designer for Pye Interiors, a Charlottesville-based firm in charge of the project. "We're going to add free-standing directories similar to what can be seen in shopping malls." Read more at http://www.collegiatetimes.com/stories/10904.
