UVA's McIntire School of Commerce Moves into New Home on Iconic Lawn
In 2008, the McIntire School of Commerce moved into its state-of-the-art new home, renovated and expanded by Hartman Cox and Pye Interiors. The University of Virginia’s original grounds are legendary in American architecture. The Lawn, a large terraced court anchored by the Rotunda at its north end, is the centerpiece of Thomas Jefferson's Academical Village. After nearly 10 years of planning, the first of several ambitious projects at the south end of the Lawn is now complete. Rouss Hall was originally built in 1898, when the university hired architect Stanford White to enclose the south end of Jefferson’s Lawn. Now, more than 100 years later, Rouss Hall has been reinvented. The building appears unchanged from the Lawn, yet once inside a visitor enters a bright, soaring interior environment.
